All-Power 800 Watt 2-Cycle Generator - Carburetor Repair

Our daughter bought a house a while back and it came with this small generator, I presume to run the fridge. The previous owner left the generator (and a lot of other things, like a lawn mower) when he moved. I'm guessing he knew the generator (and mower) condition, which is why they were left behind. The generator (and mower) didn't run. Gas started dribbling from the generator's carburetor bowl when I turned on the fuel petcock, so I knew at a minimum the carburetor had to come apart.

I didn't bother pulling the carburetor off the engine, but instead just started the troubleshooting process by pulling the float bowl off. There was a lot of dried sludge in the bottom of the bowl, and the main jet was fully clogged.

After cleaning things up and putting the carb back together, I drained the remaining fuel and other garbage out of the fuel tank and into a pan. You can't see it very well but a tablespoon or two of water came out of the tank.

Here's a little better photo of the water after I drained most of the fuel out of the pan. The black junk came out of the tank also.

With fresh gas mixture in the tank, the engine started up after several pulls of the cord. 122 volts at 62 hertz looks great.

I plugged in this heater and ran it on Low.

120 volts, 61 hertz, and 735 watts. The generator ran like a top, albeit a little on the loud side. Kind of like a weed eater or small chain saw.
