One of the cast iron clamps that seals the Gardner-Denver water pump shaft on the Petter engine's trailer is broken into three pieces and is missing some chunks. Someone had brazed it together in the past and filled in a lot of voids with what looks like JB Weld.
A couple more photos of the carnage are below, after grinding off the JB Weld.
I used a C-clamp to hold one side of the two halves together so I could then locate the broken ear in the right spot. My first attempt at welding was to use some high-nickel rod with the arc welder. That turned out poorly so I ground everything down again and just used my MIG welder. I know it's not the correct way to weld cast iron but I didn't want to bother trying to braze the whole mess together. There were just too many large gaps and holes to try and fill in with brazing rod.
This next photo shows the repaired part (bottom), and the undamaged half (top).
Here we are a couple of days later, and the parts are installed after the paint dried.
